Simplicity is the mother of virtues, but it is very difficult to meet.
It is somewhere lost in the complexity of human knowledge, in the labyrinth of thought and all explanations for everything.
The noise of hyper-analysis has banished her to darkest alleys …
And the lack of human memory has pushed her to the farthest point of consciousness.
Basically, man has forgotten what it means to capture in your mind what is happening around you, without having to explain everything.
Life is simple in essence and you have to go through it as you cross a road with an unknown continuity.
If you are an artist, you capture it with notes, or with beautiful words.
Witche’s Brew members come from different social and geographical backgrounds.
Roads that have been imprinted in rock, almost rock’n’roll, sound.
After all, their name comes from this magical cooking of the influences of each of them.
The main influence on their musical creation is only the simple everyday life around them.
And the forerunner of their fourth album “Chronicles of Electric Sorcery“, the song “Contagious“, is no exception.
The process of creating the song started as a gathering of magicians, except that the elixirs were nothing but notes and the magic invocations were their lyrics.
According to Mirko Witche Bosco, the band’s guitarist, he brought the music to the rehearsal studio.
Mark Blacks, their singer, wrote lyrics on it.
Of course, no one was left out and everyone together on the pot of creation added the ingredients to complete the song.
As Mirko reveals, he has no internal source of inspiration as a result of a psychological process.
He basically observes situations around him, and these are the sparks of his creation.
Just like what happens in life … It flows, cynically, without emotions, only with a mathematical imprint.
The title of the song, “Contagious“, describes what Italy has been experiencing since the beginning of 2020.
For them, writing music is a process of narrating the life and the events that accompany it.
This sequence looks like the ode of the bards in medieval Europe and we are already in a repeat of that time, unfortunately.
Like the songs of the bards, which conveyed a message that only a connoisseur could understand, so did “Contagious“.
It motivates us to keep our faith and keep trying, never give up!
After all, even in simple backgammon, the old players used to say: “play well and lose“.
The feeling that accompanies the creation of the lyrics is that of faith. Whatever misery finds humanity, it is profoundly capable of overcoming it.
Mirko does not want the song to be confused with some socio-political analysis.
It talks about life, reality, something that is contrary to the statements of politicians based on lies!
He is not interested in politics, obviously because of the situation nowadays.
Reminding us, like all the songs in the band, that’s all about life… or more correctly the reality!
The power of a song …
Songs are like seeds, the more you show them, the more they multiply and gain strength.
And repeating a song just strengthens it.
This is what the guitarist of the band believes and hopes to happen with this song as well.
As he notes, if it were to be covered by another band, he would like to be a world “unknown“.
That’s because that’s the only way the song could reach the most remote and unknown corner of our world!
Rock’n’roll, many times, and hard rock have emerged thanks due to their simplicity.
They describe the daily life of people experiencing life through notes.
After all, let us not forget that in naval terminology “rock’n’roll” means: a straight course of a ship in a storm.
By paralleling the ship with a man and the sea with life, it is understood that …
Music is what we all experience…
