Adam Dubin‘s documentary “Murder In The Front Row” will be released on April 24 in physical and digital form.
It is a film- documentary about the ’80s and the Thrash Metal scene of the Bay Area.
The official premiere of the documentary was on April 20, 2019, at the AMC Kabuki 8 Theater in San Francisco and in Europe on September 19 at the Athens International Film Festival.
The film includes more than fifty interviews with stage artists, including:
- Testament, and
- Death Angel.
It is a combination of interviews, animation, and storytelling by comedian Brian Posehn.
But first and foremost, “it’s just good stories and very human,” Dubin says.
The story is about a group of young children in Northern California with a common passion for metals such as Iron Maiden and Motorhead.
“All of these bands were mostly from England and never toured the West Coast,” Dubin said.
So this group of young children decided to channel their energy and love for music into shaping their own music scene.
“Murder In The Front Row” is partly inspired by the 2012 footage of Harald Oimoen and Brian Lew in the Bay-Area metal scene.
Members who speak in the film remember how thrash metal scene was formed and relate the events that led Thrash to establish it around the world.
On a personal level, Dubin believes that “Murder In The Front Row” is “an attempt to reveal a central truth about Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
