The common theme of punk lyrics is a punch in the stomach, always metaphorically speaking.
Their strong political and social significance aims not only at awakening, but also simply recording events.
Many of which are unknown to the public with a more “normal” life than a “marginal” life.
There are, however, cases where the lyrics simply urge you to … fill the stomach.
And in a particular place and with specific cuisine.
The Norwegians Turbonegro do not think a lot if their lyrics are hurt or have some depth.
Just write them!
In their fourth album, the “Apocalypse Dudes” realizes for the first time that they can be successful.
From an underground band they can finally emerge to the surface.
However, they did not expect it before releasing their particular record.
A pizzeria brings change
So they decided to open their album, promising the new pizzeria opened by their bandmate Pål Pot Pamparius (or else Pål Bøttger Kjærnes).
The original guitarist and later on keyboarder, with a friend of his hometown, Kolbotn, bought the pizzeria in 1997 and called it Pamparius Pizza.
The first album of the so-called “Apocalypse trilogy,” (“Scandinavian Leather” and “Party Animals” the next) and with the addition of Knut Schreiner (also known as “Euroboy”), flirted with success.
The opening song is “The Age of Pamparius,” which was essentially opening up a new era for the band, horizon and new sound.
The song at its beginning may, along with the piano and the acoustic guitar, remind something of some older composition by Alice Cooper.
Later, however, it turns into a fast, almost glam rock composition.
Upon returning from a trip to Thailand, the musician decided to open a pizzeria, which will also be a matter for discussion.
Besides, this is the meaning behind the name.
The song
The lyrics certainly do not need an analyst of Cavafy’s poetry, but among other things they also state the ambition of the band.
A new era for them and a brand new dress code!
Otherwise, it could be a simple advertisement, a musical jingle, to cause a mental “itch”.
The lyrics “So you think you had an opera / So you think you had a Napoli” refer to the pizza items that the store has.
Pizzeria is generally recommended by the fan clubs of the band and there are many times that one can be photographed with band members.
It has been covered by Nashville Pussy and has entered as a musical theme in the MTV series, “Wildboyz“.
In the videoclip, Pål Pot Pamparius appears during action and creation, as well as “sending away” a customer who just came while closing down.
