Even in Hell, there are some who can sing.
How it sounds
It was as if Eminem was demonized while trying to make Candlemass into Death Metal.
Or like punks trying to play Death Metal after 42 beers… each.
But it’s actually a small genre that is (perhaps evolving) the Death Metal of the 1990s, incorporating elements of Hardcore Punk.
Unlike other Death Metal styles, it does not focus on guitar solos and blast beats.
Instead, it uses mid-tempo rhythms, breakdowns, and slam riffs (slams), as well as vocals and drum rhythms inspired by hip hop.
Why listen to it
Because we are tough, but with the cervical syndrome and we can not do very fast headbanging.
It’s basically not bad and above all, it is genuine and honest.
As for their t-shirts, they are rarer than Faberge eggs.
Why not
Because even if you listen to it, you can smell a marginal club with music that even the DJ does not know what he is playing.
Basically not for long.
Where we meet it
New York.
When did it start
In the mid-’90s.
Who are the pioneers
Internal Bleeding coined the term in 1992 and began defining their music as “Total Fucking Slam”.
The term was used long before any other band even considered using it.
Suffocation, on the other hand, were the first to use slam riffs.
Among the pioneers is Devourment, as they spread the visual aesthetics of the genre.
You have to listen
Guttural Secrete, Ingested, Vulvectomy, Katalepsy, Short Bus Pile Up, Abominable Putridity.
Days of glory
Once the singer of a band drank 50 beers and was adored by all 24 attendees of the live.
Red card
The genre is for a few who know they are few and think they are even fewer and finer.
What is it confused with
It is often confused with Nu Metal due to the use of atonic riffs, Rap / Hip Hop, but mainly with Deathcore.
However, real Slam Death Metal bands have little to no connection with these genres.
How do you describe it to an irrelevant
Like Public Enemy with bronchitis… approx. But, perhaps,… leave it it’s not for you!
