The times we are going through have left a huge gap in terms of music (and art in general).
However, the past is full of experiences and sometimes funny and/or “strange” moments.
One of them come to us, and of course, we had to share it with you.
Iron Maiden plays live at the New Philadelphia Stadium (Greece)!
Some people will tell that is a well-known story and maybe it is… But the news is not this, but the before!
So, what happens just before you get to a concert?
This is where the real story begins with an eyewitness, a fan of metal music.
The journey to Iron Maiden…
Somewhere in the distant 1988, a teenager begins his journey to one of the most historic concerts in Greece.
A trip that started on 13.9.1988 for more than 20,000 people and with the ticket costing 1800 drachmas or with the current currency, about 5.2 euros!!!!!
Of course, getting to a concert at that time was not the easiest thing to do.
You had to get on buses and on the electric to get as close as you could, and then walk a lot.
Of course, all the trouble was worth it since, in the end, the band would make sure to reward you in the best way!
Our teenager, therefore, started his journey, taking the bus from an area of West Attica in the direction of the tram to reach the stadium.
Arriving at the electric, of course, he did not expect to be in front of a wagon full of Iron fans, but also PAOK fans!!!
Yes, yes of PAOK! Dressed in leather, chains hanging and discreetly of both Iron and PAOK.
Although our teenager was also a PAOK fan, fear gripped him!
The reason is simple for those who know …
PAOK fans in Greece are one of the most fanatical and organized.
They remind something of the football teams of England (before Thatcher), that when their team plays, it is good for you to sit at home!
So, our teenage witness chose to get off at the first station and continue his journey on foot!
From this story, another news emerges for us here in Greece …
In the face of the love for music, football fans put aside “fan hatred” and become one, to the sounds of “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son”.

The concert
That day marked not only our teenage witness but an entire generation.
It was, after all, the official start for Greece, so that both insiders and outsiders realize that the country has metal fans and even fanatics.
A significant day in all respects… Tuesday and 13! A better day could not be chosen, to be true!
Essentially, this concert put Greece on the official music map!
What has been left from the story of that concert is “I was there too”, told to us by our “witness”.
It was not fashioned, it was the exact meaning of “history was written that day” …
