When you are a fan of music and you love melodies of all kinds, then you’re well aware that there is no better sound than that of a vinyl!
However, technology and its evolution have brought new means to enjoy our favorite music.
Means that, as it turned out in retrospect, were not enough to keep us (for a long time at least) away from vinyl.
RIAA*, giving the official sales data for the first half of 2020 in the US, comes to prove the above.
CD sales fell by almost half, while sales of vinyl gradually increased.
Vinyl sales may be recovering, but they represent only 4.1% of the music industry’s turnover.
Digital technology dominates, accounting for 91% of sales, and streaming accounts for 84.8% of this percentage.
Despite the strong pressure on the music industry, these percentages, although small, are proof that vinyl is the only invariant.
Without wanting to be Calhas, I can say that sooner or later we will all return to vinyl!
After all, in Rock / Metal music, vinyl had, and will have an important place in our ears and will never cease to be a key part of our music libraries!
