Vibration is a real dimension of space and time. After all, everything in nature vibrates…
How it sounds
Like Rock, but with more rhythm, that is, like Rock being danced.
It is generally a mixture of two huge genres of music that have influenced world music, with the guitarist being the purebred rocker and the bassist a fan of Funk.
Why listen to it
Because it has intensity, rhythm and you can dance without feeling that you are losing the identity of the hard-nosed rock.
Why not
Because we do not want happy rhythms in Rock!
Where we meet it
In America
When did it start
The early ‘60s.
Who are the pioneers
According to James Brown, and many others, the first to put Funk on Rock’s path was Little Richard.
And specifically with the band The Upsetters, in the mid-’50s.
Jimi Hendrix was the first known artist to combine the rhythms and riffs of early Funk with his Rock sound.
You consider George Clinton the godfather of the genre when he coined the name “P-Funk” in 1970 to interpret Funk’s innovative new concepts.
Funkadelic band actually defined the genre with the release of “Maggot Brain” (1971).
You have to listen
Primus, 3rdeyegirl, Grand Funk Railroad, Sly & The Family Stone, Ohio Players, The Time, Fishbone, Pleasure, Ramsey Lewis, and countless more!
Days of glory
The 70s, but because of some musicians, not as a musical current.
Red card
Most musicians had a one-night stand (album) relationship with the genre, either on the Rock side or the Funk side.
Probably the differences between the fans of the two species could not be bridged so they do not sell.
What is it confused with
With Funk, Rock, and Psychedelic Soul
How do you describe it to an irrelevant
Do you know the IIIII feeeeeeeel gooooooood? That’s it!!!!
