“It is not the strongest or the smartest that survives, but the one that can best adapt to change.” (Charles Darwin)
After everything we went through during the pandemic and more specifically the incarceration, we can better understand the above phrase.
The difficulties on a psychological and emotional level that we were called to face, brought to the surface many “dark” boxes of our minds.
Emotional situations swelled, which before we treated as simple, daily difficulties.
Now, however, we have seen an image in our mirror, that we have either never seen before, or we simply did not know.
We challenged, we were challenged, we disappointed, we were disappointed, we were sad, we were saddened, or just experience a different reality?
Maybe we just realized that in the end, we did not have the confidence that life needs to stand up.
After all, many psychologists claim that the mental state of individuals is affected by what happens in the “external” space of each person.
Essentially, if we could take a “lesson” from all this, it is that the more we suppress our dark sides, the farther we will be from our light.
The endless effort to hide our flaws from others, for fear of spoiling our perfect image, leads us to illusions.
In the midst of a pandemic, it became clear that our truth is what gives us the strength to cope with everything that is dark and certainly difficult.
As Aristotle used to say, we need to “express ourselves according to what happens to us, at the right time and place, to the respective persons involved and in the appropriate way.”
And this is where the arts, and especially music, come to prove that the expression of emotions can (and) is redemptive.
It is the means of relief, both for the mind and for the soul.
Into Flames
As Mislead’s song “Into Flames” describes.
This is an experiential song that talks about “the feeling you have when you lose yourself, through the wrong situations and people.
In particular, the pandemic, the confinement, the pressure from personal and professional factors was the “inspiration” to express this feeling “.
It is one of the darkest tracks that gave birth to this endoscopic process and condition and at the same time one of the most representative of the upcoming album.”
“Into Flames” was written in the winter of 2020 by Katerina Garofallidis and Nikos Revithis, during the difficult times of quarantine.
“It was released after 1.5 years in April 2022, as the first single of” Find Your Enemy “which is expected to be released this summer.”
Mislead, influenced by everything that happened in our world, managed, through all this dark period, to write an entire album.
Another proof that music (and art in general) was, is, and will always be a way out.
The message of the song
“The message we want to convey with this song is that through your ashes, you can pick up your pieces and be reborn!
To find your way and the strength to do it.”
