The world of music consists of two basic components: art and technique.
Art alone remains an idea in the head of a 6-year-old who does not yet know how to hold a spoon, so he does not know how to apply it.
While, the technique is like you have a Ferrari, but you have no idea where you want to go with it and in addition, you do not have a drop of gasoline.
So, the need for the coexistence of the two components is necessary.
For example, how many times have you come back after a concert and for 2-3 days you cannot speak normally, especially if you know the songs?
This is due to the fact that you tried, (yes yes, you just tried and you certainly did not succeed), to sing with the singer of your favorite band.
At the same time, the singer had no problem, and the next day he would sing in another city, making some fans speechless for days.
As by a satanic coincidence where the neighbor’s 6-year-old son does not stop screaming from Sunday morning until noon and continues all week, no problem!
Strange as the comparison may seem, it is not irrelevant at all. The art and technique of screaming go hand in hand.
To your six-year-old most likable neighbor she is spontaneous, but to the singer’s favorite, it is a result of technique and practice.
Scientific study…
Krzysztof Izdebski of the Pacific Voice and Speech Foundation, which specializes in patients with vocal cord problems, has drawn some very useful conclusions.
The scientist revealed that metal singers use a technique that is natural to our little friends.
To put it simply, our little friends have it naturally!!!!
Specifically, he noticed that babies make different sounds before they start talking.
Screams, squeaks in high and low tones, whistling, even their breathing make a sound.
So, he thought that the body knows this technique from the beginning and instinctively.
That is, we have this ability and, in a way, we lose it growing up.
Patients suffering from injured vocal cords cannot learn how to do it to avoid these problems.
Izdebski, in order to study this phenomenon, used special cameras with a recording capacity of 16000 fps (Frames per second / Frame refresh rate).
This allowed him to see this process in a very slow motion. One of the cameras was placed in the larynx of a metal singer.
He found that he used his voice in such a way that his vocal cords did not strike each other.
Something that prevents any damage to them.
What exactly did he record?
The images he recorded clearly show that the sounds are produced mainly by structures located in the larynx, just in the tongue.
The vocal cords open and vibrate without touching each other, while the whole area above them, creates vibrations and sounds.
This is because this area is quite sparse and so the wind creates turbulence, which in turn creates sounds.
From what I understand, it is like creating an acoustic dome in their mouth.
The Polish scientist concludes that this information will help many patients, who due to their ignorance about this issue, do not speak properly.
Or in our case, they do not sing properly, as a result of which they destroy their vocal cords, and even create permanent damage to them.
In fact, with a little more study of oral technique and anatomy, you may be able to sing in a Death Metal band.
It is better not to start the practice in the house unless you live on the mountain alone!!!
