(otherwise: thrash funk or punk-funk)
There is no music without rhythm and there is no better rhythm than the one given by a bass.
How it sounds
Loud chords, with the bass dominating at a funk tempo
Why listen to it
Because funk is always fun, but we are ashamed to listen because it was not enough metal. So we can listen without shame and guilt
Why not
Because the very dingy of the bass can become annoying
Where we meet it
In California, where else? but generally across the west coast of the USA.
When did it start
In the mid-1980s, but the first sample, before this category even came out, existed in Wales ten years ago
Who are the pioneers?
The Welsh Budgie with their album “Bandolier” are considered pioneers in the genre.
However, it was officially recognized with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone, as something stronger than a simple funky.
But also Living Color, which was the first to prove that you do not need to be white to play metal.
Something that few people understand today.
O course the great Faith No More.
You have to listen
Infectious Grooves, the supergroup of Mike Muir (Suicidal Tendencies), Dan Reed Network, Super Junky Monkey (women’s band from Japan), and Primus.
Days of glory
Mostly from the mid-1980s to the mid-1980s.
Red card
Over-projected by the media and often overrated experiments.
What is it confused with
With groove metal, rap metal, nu-metal, and avant-garde metal. It is often classified as an alternative
How do you describe it to an irrelevant person
Disco dance that is not danced because the guitar plays very loudly.
