For those who are not into hard music, the powerful, aggressive world of Rock / Metal seems to be an inhospitable place for progressive politics.
However, there are many bands that deal (as we have said many times) with issues that plague our society.
Rock / Metal music was and remains irreconcilable and will not stop “striking” taboo topics.
Some of them are violence against women, domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, war, and many more.
Issues such as violence against women are only discussed superficially, even today.
So how do we persuade societies to talk openly about all these issues and persuade governments to act?
Through music or more generally through art, it’s an answer.
We must, together, break down the barriers of stigma, silence, and shame that prevent people from asking for help!
Hellyeah – Hush
One of the bands that dealt seriously with this issue is the heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah.
The song “Hush” was released through the “NO MORE” movement, in which the band participated.
Their singer Chad Gray inspired the song from his childhood, as he grew up in a house full of violence.
His goal was to make the victims realize that they are not alone in all this!
Unfortunately, despite the effort to inform and legislation on the subject, domestic violence is becoming more and more common (???).
Discussions nationwide find many artists demanding an immediate end to all forms of abuse.
It is essential to understand that we must actively participate in initiatives concerning violence against women and prevent it at any cost.
Indifference costs lives and every life is precious!
Stop all forms of violence!
