It is well known that art is intertwined with human nature. Emotions that cannot be easily said, become an artistic creation.
But for creators, it’s not just that. Their art is much more. It is desire, protest, introspection, emotion, perception, treatment…
Arthur Schopenhauer believed that art in all its forms is a redemption of the soul.
A creator’s relationship with his art is not something simple, it is a dependency relationship and this is exactly what we see in the C.O.D.E. song, “Sinner Art”.
Sinner Art
You turn my inside world,
You drive my hopeless soul,
I hide you deep in my heart,
You are my Sinner Art
As Giannis describes us, the song refers to the relationship of “dependence” that the artist feels with his art.
“It is a relationship of passion, a lime flame that lives deep hidden inside every artist and when inspiration comes, it comes out and burns everything.
One could say that it is a love affair, a sinful relationship and you cannot do without it.”
Vicky, for her part, talks to us about how the idea for Sinner Art came about.
“Initially I had written the melody of the verse earlier and it had remained unused for some time.
But one day as I was walking, I remembered the melody and started singing it softly. I took the guitar (while I do not know how to play) and scratching it, the chorus came out.
As I always do, I showed it to Giannis, who took the guitar (since he is the guitarist, hahaha) and wrote the riffs.
We sat together and made the flow of the piece, the rhythms, the parts etc.
Then Elias (drummer) came and gave his beautiful ideas on the rhythms of the song and Miltos with his Synths filled the atmosphere.
We have written their lyrics together with Giannis, I started and Giannis completed so that we have this beautiful result “.
The psychic world of an artist hides or reveals many aspects of it. This happened to Vicky too.
“When we were recording the song due to emotional load, I cried and had to stop to calm down.
This also happened in the rehearsals and I honestly still do not know how I will manage it when the time comes for a live “.
It’s another shocking proof of how connected a creator is to his work.
The message of C.O.D.E.
This song is dedicated to all those who live and express themselves through art…
For those who can not do without it.
For those who can not breathe, fall in love, cry, laugh, think, feel fragile, feel strong, feel like children, mature…
So, to those who look like us, the artists of all kinds, the “sinners”…
