In every serious act or statement, its satire is automatically born.
How it sounds
Multiple… in general with all the expressions rock.
Why listen to it
Because it is fun.
And because almost all well-known bands have dealt with this genre and just by having fun, they created masterpieces.
While others gave a very loud message through humor.
Why not
Because humor is like food: everyone likes something different.
But also, because the boundaries between parody, ridicule, and ridiculousness are open and easy to cross
Where we meet it
Everywhere and especially where people laugh and where they know how to play music.
In almost every country where rock sounds are heard, there is a band playing this genre.
Essentially, though, it started in the US and the United Kingdom
When did it start
Since the mid-50s
Who are the pioneers
Among the first was Stan Freberg, who satire Elvis Presley, Harry Belafonte, and Platters.
Sheb Woole with “Purple People Eater” reached No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart in 1958 and stayed there for 6 weeks.
In Britain, Charlie Drake and the Goons made entire albums of satirical songs at the same time.
Mitch Benn & the Turtles with the 1968 album “The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands” are easily considered the pioneers of the genre.
You have to listen
Tenacious D, Flight of the Conchords, “Weird Al” Yankovic, who gave a huge boost to the genre, Allan Sherman, Spinal Tap, the Hee Bee Gee Bees, Bad News, Ninja Sex Party, the Presidents of the United States of America and Bloodhound Gang.
Days of glory
Mostly the ’90s and’ 00s.
Red card
Exaggeration and bad humor, along with a lack of elementary talent mainly in local scenes.
What is it confused with?
With everything… with musicals, rock opera, and in general in all genres, it has penetrated satanically.
How do you describe it to an irrelevant person
When you see someone exaggerating or combining reggae with thrash metal or there is a lot of wig on stage.
